Streetchat

In the post-pandemic era, social life has undergone a transformation. A community application primarily based on city maps is created, providing a real-time chat map platform tailored to individuals, offering a new perspective to rediscover the city. Share everyday occurrences in the city with your friends and fellow citizens anytime, anywhere.
The Problem, Goal and Challenge
The current issues of social media platforms
1. Lack of geographical context: Current social platforms often lack geographical links, making it difficult for users to truly understand the environmental background of events.
2. Lack of immediacy and on-site feeling of information: Much of the information on social platforms is only released afterwards, which prevents users from obtaining first-hand information about ongoing events in a timely manner.
3. Lack of localized content: Much of the content on many social platforms is too broad and homogeneous, disconnecting from users' actual living environment.
4. Inability to promote offline interaction: Traditional social platforms are limited to online communication and cannot effectively transform online socializing into offline interaction.
Goal
Explore a new perspective of the city. The map community offers a fresh angle to rediscover and get to know the city, allowing users to delve into the unique stories and interesting things of the city from a geographical standpoint, thereby deepening their understanding and sense of belonging to the city they live in.
解決方式
Post through the map, similar to google map's location-based posting, and add group functionality to allow people with similar interests to gather and participate in community activities.
Through different permission layers, allow users to share with their friends or groups, maintaining privacy.

Take aways
In designing Street Chat, the most difficult point lies in the fact that the community can have multiple states, such as: the empty state before posting, the state of writing a post, sending successfully or sending failure, etc. All these states must be clear before good user experience design can be achieved.
In addition, there are many norms to consider in the community, which also impact user experience. Overall, it is a quite challenging product.
